Tayabas Today

Tayabas town is one of the oldest municipalities in existence in Quezon Province. It lies approximately 11kms. north of the capital city of Lucena, and is 143kms southeast of MetroManila by land travel. This former capital town is rich in historic monuments and age old traditions. Lying at the foot of Mt. Banahaw and overlooking Lucena and Tayabas Bay, Tayabas offers travelers a cool & wet climate and an abundance of unspoiled natural scenic spots perfect for rest and relaxation.

Being an old town, Tayabas is rich in historical and interesting places to visit. It also abounds in natural and scenic spots both for the nature lover and the occasional tourist looking for a good time to relax and commune with nature. Resorts dot the countryside taking advantage of the cool weather and the abundant water supply in the area.

Its geographic location provide it with a unique climate best described in terms of the characteristics of rainfall recieved during the different months of the year. Often times it is described as unhealthy due to sudden changes of hot and cold climate. Due to its climate and being an inland town, agriculture and livestock are the main sources of livelihood of the people. Commercial and business establishments also abound.

Today Tayabas has steadily quested to provide a community as as ideal home within a healthy and ecologically balanced environment.
